Catching Up

In March, we met to discuss The Hunger Games and see the movie. Most people in the group found the book to be an easy read and really enjoyed the movie. There is lots of controversy brewing regarding the appropriateness of the book for the upper elementary age group. The next book was chosen for our Thriller/Psycho month in April. And the winner was....
Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman We all met at Megan's lovely new townhome and had a Baltimore themed meeting since the book takes place right here in B'more. Crabs, corned beef, cow tales, Berger cookies and "Missing Baby" fruit salad were on the menu. We welcomed a couple of new readers and got down to business eating, drinking and talking about the book. The general concensus was that the book was easy to read and we really liked it. It was made all the more interesting because it referenced places we are familiar with or had heard of. There was alot of discussion about the 2 main characters, Alice and Ronnie, and the choices Alice's mother makes. We weren't really happy with Ronnie's outcome and most of us were pretty aggitated with the mother of the abducted baby! Great discussions ensued. We also chose our next book for Science Fiction -May. And the winner is.....
The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. LeGuin. See you on May 19th!
